The APT-lication Process

Application Review Process

The amount of educational support awarded is not predetermined and may vary from year to year. All scholarship applications are carefully reviewed to ensure compliance with the established APT Foundation Standards for Award.

Following the application deadline, the complete review process may take up to four months, contingent upon the applicant’s progression through each stage and advancement to the finalist round.

Confidentiality and Applicant Identification

At the outset of the process, an APT administrator assigns each applicant a unique identification number. This identifier is used throughout the selection process to maintain confidentiality and ensure that the selection panel does not have access to applicants’ names or other personally identifiable information. The panel reviews only a summarized version of each applicant’s essays, educational needs, and stated goals.

Interview Rounds

After the initial application screening, applicants participate in up to three rounds of video interviews conducted by different APT talent seekers and coaches. Following each interview round, applicants who advance are notified accordingly.

These multiple video interviews enable the APT team to gain a comprehensive understanding of each applicant’s educational needs, objectives, and overall alignment with the Foundation’s mission.

Finalist Review Process

Once the APT team identifies a final group of qualified applicants for the term, designated coaches will contact the finalists to confirm details for presentation to the selection panel. This information includes the applicant’s chosen institution, consent to background checks, confirmed educational costs, and any additional information the applicant wishes to submit to strengthen their candidacy.

Final Selection

The selection panel will then convene to determine which finalists will be selected as partners. During this stage, the APT team may advocate on behalf of finalists who demonstrate strong alignment with APT standards.

Notification Process

Applicants selected as partners will be notified in person by their assigned APT Coach. Applicants who are not selected will be informed by their APT Coach via phone and/or email and are encouraged to reapply in the following calendar year.
